Award Winning: Winners of FSB’s South East Family Business of The Year!

We are delighted to have been awarded Family Business of the Year – South East, at the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards. The awards recognise and celebrate the significant contribution that smaller businesses and the self-employed make to the UK. Our regional win now means we’ll progress to the national finals in May.

As a family run and orientated business, we’ve always been keen to uphold our founders’ original aims of creating a means of employment – both for them, and then for their families and future generations. This ethos is seen in the number of staff who stay with us for many years: over 25% of our team have been employed for over 10 years, and over 60% have been with us for more than five years. In addition to this, the number of staff who are related to at least one other person in the business is 14 – over a third. We truly are a family business!

In what has been an extremely challenging period for many SMEs, we were delighted to hear that we were chosen as FSB’s Family Business of the Year for our region. We’ve worked very hard to create a “people and customer focused” culture, by looking after our team on a day-to-day basis and providing key support and initiatives that not all companies offer. As well as being a Real Living Wage employer, we also offer a number of schemes including Cycle to Work, apprenticeships, staff training and paid breaks, something unusual in the manufacturing sector. And as a family business, it’s fantastic to share this award with our wonderful team.

FSB’s Family Business of the Year award recognises the importance of family firms in the British economy, acknowledging the UK's top family-run SME with fewer than 250 employees. The FSB judges were keen to choose an organisation who could demonstrate how their approach and values have contributed to success across the business.
